We're a group of journalists, illustrators, photographers, and graphic designers who make a monthly magazine about all the cool stuff in Nottingham. LeftLion's been about since 2003; serving up everything from local contemporary literature, to interviews with people who review public toilets.
Jared, Alan and Tim set up the LeftLion website back in 2003 to shout about Notts culture, and ended up publishing their first print magazine, with Shane Meadows on the cover, in 2004. Over the years loads of top creatives have been filling our pages with the diverse voices of the city.
2013 saw Ali Emm become Editor and a small team move into Hockley offices. In 2017, the reins were handed over to Bridie Squires, then to Ashley Carter in 2019, George White in 2022, and Sophie Gargett in 2023, with Gemma Cockrell as our current Assistant Editor.
These days, we kick out 15,000 copies every month from our base in Sneinton. We cover everything from gig reviews to interviews with directors, the best places to grab food in the city to deep dives into Nottingham's most obscure history. If it's about Notts, we're on it.
You can access the whole print magazine archive online, and there's plenty of other great stuff to check out across our website.
We hope you enjoy.
