For those of you who enjoy creativity and the finer things in life, this is the Christmas market for you. Over the course of the weekend, the Nottingham Lakeside Arts' Djanogly Gallery, Wallner Gallery and Djanogly Theatre have been turned into an indoor bazaar full of quality art and handmade luxuries that you can ogle at, swoon over and take home if you wish.
Over seventy artists have set up shop here, with works ranging from pottery, to ceramics, glassware, textiles, metalwork, illustration and more. If you're looking to avoid high street shopping for gifts this Christmas, it's definitely worth the trip. You'll find delicately crafted jewellery and accessories, a diverse range of unique homeware as well as some interesting objects that have no purpose other than to look good.
In true gallery style, the whole market has been presented immaculately, which certainly adds to the urge to throw all of your cash at every pretty thing you find. However, don’t worry about everything being too pricey – as easily as you could spend a week’s wage on one thing, you can pick up something really wonderful for about a tenner.
Lustre runs at Nottingham Lakeside Arts from Saturday 12 – Sunday 13 November, 10am – 5pm, £4/£5.

LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
