What happens when The Office meets cage-fighting?
Cock Fight is a two-man dance comedy, exploring the relationship between men of different generations. The play for power and acceptance, and the monotony of the human cycle are portrayed in a stark office through dance, words and pieces of paper.
Joshua Thomson and Gavin Webber (co-Artistic Director of The Farm), have created an interesting, funny and relevant production, which questions human nature and character. Their fluid movements, physical strength and on point timing was unbelievable to watch. It was a riotous performance from start to finish.
The absolute trust each performer has in one another is evident in the choreography and narrative, coupled with the subject matter, which plays out as a fact/fiction story - it is hard not to consider that Webber and Thomson have explored - and are still exploring - their own cross generational relationship.
Cock Fight succeeds in being engaging enough for all audiences, accessible for those whose experience of dance and dance productions may be minimal or even non-existent. The audience were in stitches from the very beginning, Thomson and Webber’s dramatic and powerful performances are constant throughout.
An impressive and exhausting 70 minutes, Cock Fight packed a punch, showcasing the awe-inspiring physicality of slow-mo dance… and timing.
