Forever Records, Rough Trade and Plates Records are all taking part this year...
Now in its 11th year Record Store Day is an opportunity to celebrate independent record stores; unique vinyl releases are made available to buy on the day only from the participating stores.
With thousands or stores all over the world taking part, including over 200 in the UK, with Forever Records, Rough Trade and Plates all celebrating in Nottingham.
Forever Records will be flinging open their doors at 8am for shoppers to get their hands on exclusive record store day releases, with a day filled with music, fashion, food, literature and general good vibes promised as the neighbouring businesses in Cobden Chambers all join in. Those planning on getting their early won’t go hungry as Think in NG Cafe will be serving breakfast from 7am, while from 12pm I’m Not From London will be taking over to provide the food and drink.
Around the corner Rough Trade Nottingham have a day of bands and DJs line-up. Opening at 6am for breakfast in the cafe before they open the music floor at 8am. Expect DJ sets from the likes of Stiff Kittens, DirtyDiscoSoundsystem and Hemulen Soundz, with the line-up of live music including You Want Fox, The Lovely Eggs, The Orioles and Eyre Llew.
While not strictly taking part in Record Store Day (they won’t have of the official releases available), Plates Records, always know how to have a good time and today will be no exception. There will be DJs in Plates and The Malt Cross, an all you can carry sale, loads of records to buy including gems they have been keeping back especially for the day and rare one-off dubstep finds, before taking it to The Bodega for the afterparty.
