The St Ann's gallery is offering up a very exciting opportunity for one of you wordy-whizzes...
In’t it nice when a plan comes together? When a molehill turns into a mountain in the best possible way, and your slim pickens become a fully prosperous selection of picken-based goods.
The Arts Writing Group, led by Backlit Gallery, started out as four, stand-alone sessions to teach Nottingham’s writers a range of critical, creative and practical approaches to writing about art.
These sessions generated a lot of interest locally, and the high demand has meant Backlit can get involved in some more exciting stuff. Not only have they been able to continue the group, they’re now on the lookout for their first Writer in Residence.
The six month residency will see one lucky bogger get treated to a fully paid studio space at Backlit Gallery from July 2018, and will be invited to engage with the gallery’s core programme, with the aim of publicly sharing thoughts and essays on the wider contextual debates surrounding themes explored in Backlit's exhibitions.
In exchange for this exciting opportunity, all they want is for the writer to devote an average of ten hours per week to the coordination and development of The Arts Writing Group, while working alongside the gallery staff.
If this sounds like a bitta yow, get your application in before Thursday 14th June at 12pm to be considered for the spot.
Full details of the opportunity and how to apply can be found at http://backlit.org.uk/opportunities/.
We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
