Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks and now Gabriel Kidd; we were well chuffed to hear about Gedling lad Gabe forming part of the impressive roster for ITV revamp, WOS Wrestling.
Originally airing thirty years ago and running from 1955 to 1988, it was a Saturday afternoon staple that was fabled to have grannies up and down the country, waving their handbags and shouting profanities at the telly. It’s been a long hard slog to get British professional wrestling back on our screens and those involved on the scene must be proper chuffed at this achievement.
The series runs until the end of September and, while the format appears similar to the original, one can’t help but notice that the line up is somewhat more athletic than those of bygone years, and it also boasts a fairly decent range of female competitors. I don’t know about you, but in a household where the only show we can really watch as a family is GBBO, I’m more than a little bit excited to see how this goes down.
And what about our local lad? Well, we’ll be having a more detailed natter with him later in the season, but it’s fair to say, despite making his ITV debut tomorrow, there’s been a growing excitement surrounding Gabriel for the past couple of years. The forums note that Kidd has consistently great matches and, despite being a young’un, he’s a truly talented fighter who continues to go from strength to strength.
Catch Gabriel Kidd on WOS Wrestling, 5pm Saturday on ITV.
