Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson's groundbreaking new documentary They Shall Not Grow Old will be screened at four venues across Nottingham as part of a one night only special event.  Created to mark the centenary of World War One, the feature-length film was co-commissioned by 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary, and Imperial War Museums, They Shall Not Grow Old has been created exclusively with original footage from Imperial War Museums’ film archive and audio from BBC archives.

A nationwide live-cinema event on Tuesday 16 October will see cinemas across Nottingham simultaneously screen the film in both 2D and 3D, including a live broadcast from the film’s World Premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, giving views the chances to see the red carpet arrivals and a Q&A with director Jackson hosted by film critic Mark Kermode as a live telecast from the premiere.

The Oscar-winning director has combined his personal fascination with the conflict and revolutionary new restoration methods to bring the First World War to life in a way never seen before. They Shall Not Grow Old uses the voices of the veterans combined with original archival footage to bring to life the reality of war on the front line for a whole new generation. Footage has been colourised, converted to 3D and transformed with modern production techniques to present never before seen detail.

They Shall Not Grow Old is screening at Cineworld Nottingham, Broadway Cinema, Savoy Cinema and Showcase Nottingham De Lux at 6pm on Tuesday 16 October.  For more information and to book tickets, visit the They Shall Not Grow Old website.
