The London Korean Film Festival is coming back to Nottingham with a pair of one-off screenings at Broadway Cinema...

Nottingham will play host to two special screenings at Broadway Cinema as part of the 2018 London Korean Film Festival. The annual festival, which is organised by the Korean Cultural Centre UK, is taking place in seven different locations around the UK and will showcase Malene Choi's The Return and Little Forest by Yim Soon-rye on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November as part of the Nottingham leg...

The Return (2018) + Introduction

Saturday 24 November, 18.30

Director: Malene Choi

Starring: Karoline Sofie Lee, Thomas Hwan

Running time: 85 mins

Two Danish-Korean adoptees return for the first time to the country they were once born in. Confronted with the spirit of their Motherland and the personal stories of the fellow adoptees they meet in the city of Seoul, Karoline and Thomas are hurled into an emotionally disorienting journey that forces both of them to question and face their own destiny and identity. Operating in a hybrid field between documentary and fiction, The Return is partially based on director Malene Choi's personal experience as well as stories shared by adoptees that she encountered in Seoul while shooting the film.

Screening will include an introduction from Dr. Chi-Yun Shin

Little Forest (2017) + Introduction

Sunday 25 November, 18.30

Director: Yim Soon-rye

Starring: Jin Ki-joo, Kim Tae-ri

Running time: 103 mins

The story of a young woman who returns to her childhood home, in a traditional Korean village, after leaving for the big city in pursuit of what turned out to be an elusive dream. When she gets home, her mother isn't there - but her mother's Little Forest, the many ways in which a single mother successfully made a home for her much loved child, unfurl with a long succession of lovingly sketched details involving mostly food preparation.

Screening will include an introduction from Dr. Chi-Yun Shin
