Some people like to relax over the extended weekend. If that’s not your thing, take a look at our packed party round-up…
It’s that joyful time of year when summer begins, and bank holidays are coming out of our ears. For those of you that like to move to loud electronic beats, you’re spoilt for choice this time as the promoters across the city have outdone themselves with a massive calendar of events to celebrate.
The great thing about them all is that each one is a little different, catering to the tastes of numerous musical niches in Notts. Whether you’re into rumbling bass or fast-paced fist pumping, get yerself stuck into this lot below:
What? Soul Buggin' - Free Party
Where? Rough Trade
When? Friday 24 May, 7pm - Midnight
Who better to warm up the weekend than Soul Buggin’? Residents Beane, Wrighty & Elmo will be selecting funk, house, disco and soul, perfectly timed for that moment when those post-work pints turn into a full night on the sauce. It’s free entry too, so there’s no reason not to pop in to kick things off properly.
What? Rave For Framework w/ Peach Fuzz, Quake, Wild Brunch And More
Where? Box
When? Friday 24 May, 11pm - 3am
A lovely bunch of local DIY crews have teamed up to throw us a rave for an excellent cause. Though the entry is free, proceeds from the bar will be going towards Framework - luckily, the selection of world music-house-disco hip-swinging beats are bound to work up a thirst. Wigflex City Fest showcased what a banging venue Box is, and in the hands of these promoters, you know it’s a good time guaranteed.
What? Obnu w/ Des Hagenasty, Colombian Frank and Coralie
Where? Bar Eleven
When? Friday 24 May, 10pm - late
Promising everything from Middle Eastern nursery rhymes to Berlin dungeon techno, this one’s for those who like things a little darker, with plenty of waves. Des Hagenasty, one of three providing the sounds on the night, recently recorded a Rinse FM mix - have a listen while you dust off your dancing shoes for this one.
What? Gallery Sounds
Where? The Chameleon
When? Friday 24 May, 10pm - 3:30am
Straight-up house to make you sweat, on one of our favourite dancefloors. Inland Knight, Andy Riley, will join Bristol boys Anil and Ned from the Duvet Vous party crew upstairs, while Eden holds the fort in the downstairs bar. Two rooms of quality tunes with a sound crowd guaranteed.
What? Hunee
Where? Stealth
When? Friday 24 May, 10pm - 5am
Following his previous, stellar, visit Stealth has blessed us with Hunee once more. If you caught his famous Gottwood ‘16 set (half of the city’s music heads can often be found in Wales over summer), you’ll understand why he has become a hero for the scene; this Friday offers the chance to let loose to this much-loved selector’s grooves until the sun comes up, and your feet grow sore.
What? Movement Presents: Mark Knight (Toolroom)
Where? Trade
When? Sunday 26 May, 10pm - 4am
The Movement crew have been making their mark on the newly opened Trade, and if you haven’t explored the revamped basement floor, this Sunday’s the perfect chance to do so. Toolroom Records boss Mark Knight spins his high energy tech-infused house this Sunday, giving you the perfect excuse to spend the day of rest doing the absolute opposite…
What? Mala
Where? The I Club
When? Sunday 26 May, 9pm - 3am.
Much-loved local DJs Congi, Geiom and Dojo Collective will be warming up for a heated night at the Irish this weekend. For the dubstep heads, the main man really needs no introduction - head along and strap yourself in, things are sure to get wobbleh.

We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
