The birds are singing, the sun is... ok, well, the sun isn't quite there yet, but there's definitely been a shift towards the summer this month. And what better way to celebrate this than by the latest NottsShop?

Shopping Event: Fenty Beauty Launch
Rihanna spotted in Viccy Centre? Well, sort of. In what is perhaps a great coup for Nottingham's very own Boots, this month saw the launch of Rihanna's make-up range, Fenty Beauty. Met with crowds gathering trying to blag themselves one of her infamous highlighters, her range is 100% cruelty free but also showcases a range of shades specifically designed to be inclusive for all skin tones. I bagged the 'Killawatt Highlighter Duo' because a) it was gorgeous and b) you should never turn down an opportunity for Boots points, right?

Find Fenty Beauty online and in Boots Victoria Centre.

Notts-based Blogger: Yamiko
Oh my days - Yamiko has the sort of style and sewing talent that I dream of owning (alas). If you don't already follow her, her style is both covetable and aspirational; with a technicolour palette and a mixture of feminine tailoring and flouncy hemlines, she not only provides serious wardrobe envy, but showcases a balance of high-street, high end and homemade fashion. Can someone give this woman her own fashion line, please?

Notts-based Brand: Fan Club Clothing
Born from the bedroom of sisters, Felicity and Johanna, they're a two-woman show with influences taken straight from sixties and seventies bands, dreamers and muses. Their website has a mixture of band tees and amazing prints, and they've got a new collection coming up that you should keep an eye out for. But, for now, I've just bought the amazing Bowie print and am eyeing up another - maybe Françoise Hardy next time?

New Discovery: Sample
The days of growing up in Notts where you'd have the heady culinary choice of deciding between Frankie&Benny's or Bella Italia have long gone. Our city has seen a surge of new eateries but this is my new favourite. We combined happy hour at Tilt then meandered upstairs to Sample, their new restaurant with a great concept. Ingredients are sourced as locally as possible, bought from Victoria Centre market, and punters pay £24.99 for as many tapas-style courses as they can cram in. You pick an ingredient off the board and the chefs make something with that in; all dietary requirements are covered and, in theory, you could order the same ingredient multiple times and still receive something new every time. I cannot rave about the quality of food and the excellent service enough. I went with pals, but would also make a great date night, too.
