Nottingham’s Mind Fest begins this November, showcasing a range of local and national musical talent in aid of national mental health charity, Mind.
The day festival – taking place at Albert’s on Sunday 10 November – has been revived and rebranded from 2015's Notts Pop Punk Fest by JB Trent Records owner, Aaron Juska-Bowes, and will be donating all proceeds to charity. They've made a Spotify playlist of the artists on offer to get you in the mood, but here’s our list of acts you definitely don’t want to miss…
Who: Luke Rainsford
Birmingham’s Luke Rainsford brings his brand of emo-infused acoustic music to Nottingham as co-headliner of the day festival. The up-and-coming soloist has charmed audiences nationwide over the past 2 years with stunning songs that address important issues, including mental health – encapsulating the significance and relevance of Mind Fest. Don’t miss him playing Albert’s intimate Acoustic Stage before he embarks on his debut Canada tour, supporting alternative-rocker Corbin Giroux.
Who: Lacey
Formed in 2011, Nottingham’s alt-rock collective, Lacey have a plethora of gigs under their belt and are the perfect penultimate act to grace Mind Fest’s Laganitas-sponsored Stage. Think melodic rhythms and dynamic hooks, underpinned by a sense of melancholy but filled with sincere earnest. With an upcoming headline gig at The Bodega, catch these guys perform their perfectly polished, room-filling tracks.
Who: The Murderburgers
With a name like The Murderburgers, how could you miss these guys? Following a highly successful decade of EPs, LPs and touring, the Scottish punk rockers have announced they will be going on hiatus at the end of the year so we suggest catching one of their pop-punk fuelled shows while you can! Make sure you join them for an energetic live performance, featuring anthemic guitar riffs and smart lyrics. This lively 4-piece are sure to rock Albert’s 100 HAUS Stage – “It’s burger time”.
Who: Buenos Treehouse
Local pop-rockers, Buenos Treehouse step up to represent Nottingham, bringing their vibrant blend of intricate guitar solos and tumultuously loud drumming patterns to Mind Fest’s Laganitas Stage. Like The Murderburgers, the quirky band name entices you to know all about them, and with a sound akin to that of alt-rock legends Weezer and iconic Canadian punk-rockers PUP, you’d be right to want to catch this exciting act’s slot.
Who: Dead Intentions
Derby ‘skate-punk’ band, Dead Intentions, are no novices to the thriving Midlands music scene. Although the 4-piece originally formed in 2013, they have been rather quiet over the past couple of years, only exploding back onto the scene late 2018, including support slots for Mind Fest co-performers, punk legends The Murderburgers. Make sure you get down early to watch these guys kicking off the 100 HAUS Stage in true punk fashion with “big riffs, big choruses and big bar tabs”.
Mind Fest takes place on Sunday 10th November at Albert’s, Nottingham. The day festival is 14+.
