It's official. Cold, dark, miserable, rainy nights can only be combated one way... it's time to eat, drink and be merry*!
*My definition of 'being merry' mainly consists of shopping, FYI. And no, I'm not talking about Christmas presents. Unless they're for yourself.

Fashion Event: Last Night I Dreamt
I've long been a fan of Becca's gorgeously-curated jewellery shop. Nestled in Southwell's town centre, Last Night I Dreamt has been hailed as a "mini Liberty" thanks to their array of independent and uber-chic designers. With items at all prices, it's a great place to start if you're looking for something shiny for your favourite human magpie. (Or maybe yourself?) This event sees the launch of her website – tickets are £10 but food and fizz is included, and a tenner is redeemable against any purchase on the night. See you there!

Notts-based Store Opening: Morphe
Cosmetics giant Morphe (which is pronounced Mor-fee, not like Morphe, as in the orange Tony Hart blob man), might not exactly be a Nottingham brand, but while I am a huge champion for local independent brands, I do also love it when something new comes to the Vic Centre. Since opening their doors to Nottingham folk, I've tried a few of their wares and through extensive research, am now a convert. I would highly recommend the eyeshadow palettes (great variety of colours, stays on for ages, well easy to blend and great quality for good money - all of that makes me sound like I know what I'm on about, yes?) and the concealer (does what it needs to do. Stays on my face. Decent colour range, too. Boom.)
Notts-based Brand to Follow: Rose Press
Whether you're on the lookout for some pretty stationery or you just like equally pretty Instagram feeds, then check out Rose Press. Based in Sneinton market, they offer bespoke wedding, event and business stationery and it's just all so ruddy gorgeous. Plus, as if that wasn't enough, keep an eye out for Teddy, their springer spaniel who is so cute he's almost edible.
New Discovery: The Tap House
We featured their sister bar, Another? Wine Bar, a couple of months ago, but this might just be our new favourite place... With a similar 'pour your own' concept, The Taphouse has a wide selection of beers (and some fruit beer and ciders, too) that you just tap your pre-paid card on the required machine and get yourself a bev. For the hop-haters out there, don't fear because there's also wine and prosecco on tap (dangerous!) Plus, as if that wasn't enough, you can also buy Detroit-style pizza by the slice. Personally, I'm not a huge beer fan, but I am all about the cherry beer life. And pizza. Pizza, too.
We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
