Emmanuel House are appealing for financial donations to continue to support Nottingham’s homeless, vulnerable and isolated adults, after the temporary closure of their support centre and the cancellation of fundraising events and the significant loss of regular corporate donors.

The centre is also preparing for a sharp rise in demand for its support services following the pandemic, as the consequences of the illness will result in increased numbers of homelessness, mental health needs and employment uncertainty.
Whilst the Support Centre is temporarily closed for face-to-face contact, Emmanuel House is continuing to liaise with its service users, offering remote advice and support during the pandemic. It is also providing 24-hour care for 40 beneficiaries in the Night Shelter, which has been relocated to a hotel. Donations will enable the support team to continue to protect and support some of Nottingham’s most vulnerable people.
What your donation will provide:
- £5 will help to deliver toiletries and clean clothing to one guest in the Night Shelter for a week.
- £10 will provide an hour’s support over the phone for a high-risk vulnerable person.
- £25 will provide one member of Night Shelter staff with appropriate PPE for a week.
- £50 will provide essential, practical and emotional support for one client for a week.
- £100 will provide one day of helpline telephone support for homeless, vulnerable and isolated adults.
Denis Tulley, CEO at Emmanuel House, said: “During these times of unprecedented uncertainty, Emmanuel House is being presented with a significant financial challenge. However the support we offer is now more important than ever. Homeless, vulnerable and isolated adults are being hit particularly hard by the Coronavirus outbreak.
"Whilst we are all facing uncertainty and additional stress from circumstances beyond our control, the need for medical, financial and mental health support is growing by the day. When we come out of lockdown we expect unprecedented demand for our services in response to a sudden increase in homelessness.
“Our support staff are doing an incredible job of reassuring our service users that we are there for them, as there is a great concern over access to support, healthcare and benefits. When individuals, groups and organisations recover from this unsettling time in the near future, Emmanuel House will be the support network that many rely upon.”
