The Classic Thriller Season is back and planning to creep directly into your home
The Theatre Royal's summer Classic Thriller Season is an institution in Nottingham, with a repertory cast serving up a clutch of murderous thrillers and whodunnits every summer since 1986.
This year is no exception, with a new adaptation of Dickens' short classic The Black Veil lined up to bring a sinister chill to your seat, in your very own home, streamed live from the Theatre Royal for free. Gawd bless 'em.
The show will be bringing an hour of chilling gothic thrills and twists from the Theatre Royal stage from 7pm on Monday 3 August, via the RoyalNottingham YouTube channel.
This is a new adaptation directed by Karen Henson of Tabs Productions, who was behind the four shows of last year's Colin McIntyre Classic Thriller Season, sending us off into the dark Victorian streets with minimal set and lighting and a number of extra twists on the original short story, plus suitable social distancing of course.
David Longford, TRCH Creative Learning Manager, said:
"Even though we may not be open for business as usual, we just want to use this moment to do something a little bit different, as well as bringing the Theatre Royal stage into people’s homes".
A most welcome theatre fix. I'm thinking 'dinner and a show' time too, as lots of the pre-show eateries near the Theatre Royal will deliver.
