As the nights draw in and the weather gets colder, our thoughts are increasingly drawn to those without a roof over their heads. This November homelessness charity Framework is challenging you lot to take part in a physical activity of your choice to raise funds to support its work.

Framework’s Homeless to Home Challenge forms part of its winter appeal to prevent homelessness, support rough sleepers, and resettle people into stable accommodation.

Introducing the Challenge, Head of Fundraising and Communications Claire Eden says: “A Framework street outreach worker will walk an average of 10 miles per shift. We’re challenging members of the public to follow in the footsteps of our street outreach teams, doing whatever distance they can in whatever way they choose, and securing sponsorship from friends, family, and whoever else to raise vital funds to help end homelessness.

“People can complete the Challenge anywhere, anytime and at their own pace between 1 and 30 November: they can walk, run, cycle, swim, roll, rollerblade, skate or whatever they like for a distance that suits them – on their own or in a team.

To make the event even more fun – and a touch competitive – there will be a fundraising leader board for both individuals and teams, and there will be trophies handed out to the top fundraisers. They’ll also be awarding medals to everyone taking part as they achieve different stages towards their individual target.

They’re encouraging everyone to raise a minimum of £150 but will be giving a free snazzy T-shirt to everyone when they raise their first £50.

Claire adds: “By taking the Challenge people will be actively contributing to life-changing and life-saving work that prevents homelessness, supports rough sleepers, and resettles people into long term secure accommodation. As we say ‘You go the distance so we can go the extra mile’.

“We hope as many people as possible will join us during November – singly and in groups – to have fun and raise funds to tackle homelessness and particularly rough sleeping.”

If you fancy taking part, get signed up at Framework’s registration form. It is a golden way to get fit and raise dosh for a stand-up cause, and the more of us that sign up the better.
