This December, Carbon Neutral Nottingham are sharing green-fingered tips with the help of local businesses...
Wrapping paper. Glitter. Plastic. These are just some of the things that contribute to the abundance of waste that’s created at Christmas time – in fact, there’s 30% more waste produced at this time of year.
We all need a little help to tackle the big environmental and climate challenges, but we can start right here in our homes and in Nottingham. To help you do just that this December, Carbon Neutral Nottingham is launching a sustainable advent calendar.
Each day on the run-up to Christmas day, a new partner in the city will share ideas, tips and tricks to inspire you Nottingham folk to have a more environmentally friendly festive period.
Learn how to replant your tree, how to make your own DIY body scrub, safe winter cycling tips, creative winter walks, alongside many other free, fun and easy to do activities and ideas.
Partners include Oak Tree Farm, Boots, Pudding Pantry, Lush Nottingham, Shop Zero, Sustrans, Nottingham Good Food Partnership, University of Nottingham and Nottingham Contemporary, among many others.
We’re kicking things off with a video from Green Hustle, who show you how to make your own Christmas decorations in this easy step-by-step video.
Follow Carbon Neutral Nottingham on Facebook and Twitter to see each video daily, then get involved by following the videos and sharing your own projects by tagging them. It's a fun creative, low-cost way to have a more environmentally-friendly time this Christmas, so why not get your household together and give the activities a go?
We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
