Colwick Hall will host a one-of-a-kind rock opera in its stunning surroundings next month...
Expect the unexpected, as Beyond Theatre bring a brand new production to Nottingham - their latest immersive rock opera Alicia, which is set to be staged inside the beautiful Colwick Hall on Thursday 30 September.
The story follows Alicia, who has grown up in an ancient village with black magic, where the powerful are shown respect and the use of fear strengthens their hand. This production will be taking viewers on a musical journey that shows how faith and self-belief can transform the lives of Alicia and those around her, as she uses her power to help others.
The opera will feature a range of some of the greatest rock music including Black Magic Woman, Paint It Black, I Put A Spell On You, White Room and many more, rearranged by respected music director Tim Duncan to tell the story with hidden meanings and leave audiences singing long after they have left the stage. The show will also feature an international cast including Manchester-born singer Victor Michael, classically trained Hayley Maria, and Welsh-Irish baritone Phil Gault to name a few, supported by the amazing Coven Choir.
With Beyond Theatre's last production in Nottingham being an immersive staging of Jesus Christ Superstar inside the charming St Mary's Lace Market Church, they are establishing a strong connection to the city. Alicia was written in Nottingham by the celebrated group and creative producer Paul Levin said, "Superstar gave us an appetite for immersive staging and so we decided to create our own rock opera.
"Written by the side of the Trent, it is fitting that the Nottingham premiere will be at the historic Colwick Hall on Thursday September 30. The show will then travel to Birmingham before arriving in London.
"Audiences are seated at tables and while they sip their smoking cocktails, this fantastic show will surround them. You will wonder how the candles light and how the winds will howl - you are warned, expect the unexpected!"
