Between Friday 17 September – Sunday 19 September, Bål Events bring a weekend of open fire cooking, cocktails, craft beer, music and camping to the magical grounds of the Sherwood Glade, set on the fringes of Nottingham...
Bål Campfire Events was founded by Colin Crowden back in 2017 with a simple mobile bar trailer, born from a love of the outdoors and aspirations to set up events where people could enjoy great drinks in remote spots with idyllic views.
They then teamed up with local chefs from Smoqued Taqueria to start creating a new take on street food events, however were plunged into a long hiatus with the pandemic.
Colin said, "This gave us time to really explore the roots of what we wanted to bring back to our guests once the situation improved.
"That is how Bäl (Norwegian for campfire) became our flagship event, a celebration of traditional open flame cooking and a cocktail list to match both created from the best local and foraged ingredients that champion our home counties.
"James Gordon and his team of chefs have created some incredible dishes over our last three sell-out events in Leicestershire such as asado pork belly, black dukka and goats’ cheese, Lamb barbacoa on wild garlic tortilla with Yucatan pickles as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes such as asparagus and pea tostada with a pea mole, ricotta and confit egg yolks.
"We have developed an exciting new menu exclusively for Nottingham which we will be releasing over the coming weeks, and our tickets offer a table of four or more a set menu alongside a full cocktail bar service with a Sipsmith gin bar and Vedett Belgium craft beers, and an evening of music entertainment and campfires to enjoy the sunset."
With DJs to entertain throughout the day and as the sun sets, the atmosphere is set to be warm and magical. The whole experience will have a ‘mini festival’ vibe blended with a fine dining pop up, and there is a Premier Inn at the bottom of the road for those who want to stay over.
There are different ticket options available, with the set menu including table service under the tipi tent, or a more casual dining experience during the day with small plates available for those wanting a taste of what Bål is all about.
We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
