The Royal Shakespeare Company’s nationwide tour of The Comedy of Errors is kicking off in Nottingham later this month.

After getting audiences giggling during outdoor shows in Stratford-upon-Avon over summer, this popular production begins an indoor run at the Theatre Royal on Friday 22 October - meaning punters can enjoy their night without having to keep one eye on the weather.

Boasting a seventeen-strong cast of talented theatre stars, including members of the original acting company, the show will now go on after the original tour was postponed due to COVID.

Following a father who ends up trapped in the wrong country, a son who loses himself while searching for his brother, and a wife who starts to realise her husband is not the man she thought he was (but rather likes it), this beloved story is set to offer “a joyous moment of reunion, celebration and laughter”.

Director Phillip Breen says: “When we first conceived of this Comedy of Errors back in 2019, we had no idea that the production would welcome the RSC’s audience back from a global pandemic.

“But this play of family reunions - people finding each other once again, people holding each other at sunset - seems entirely apt for this moment, and we can’t wait to get back to work with this fabulous company of actors; with this old play on a new stage for this very new world.

“I’m also delighted that later in the year we will be taking our outdoor production inside when we visit Nottingham.”

Tickets for The Comedy of Errors are now available on the Theatre Royal website
