Domestic abuse prevention charity Equation have launched Reel Respect, a brand new film club aimed at younger people in Nottingham.

The Radford-based organisation will aim to challenge gender stereotypes and engage youngsters in conversations about self respect and respect for others, and will kick things off with a special screening of Misbehaviour on Tuesday 19 October.

Hosted at the newly-refurbished Flo Skatepark, the event will also include a skateboarding lesson and a fun protest poster making activity, and will be aimed at twelve to seventeen year-olds across the county.

Reel Respect follows the success of Equation’s award-winning Reel Equality Film Club, which showcases quality films focused on women-centred stories.

This is just a fraction of the vital work the charity does in our local area, with their commitment to providing training for spotting signs of domestic abuse, raising awareness of gender inequality, and offering support to abuse survivors helping to change the lives of thousands across Notts.

Tickets to to the first Reel Respect event are available now, free of charge or by donation.
