An Artistic Wonderland

When: Friday 15 October - Friday 22 October

Where: Nottingham Society of Artists

How Much? Free

An Artistic Wonderland is displaying up to 100 pieces of art from the SAA Artists of the Year competition. Ending this Friday, there’s still time to head on over to the Nottingham Society of Artists, located by the castle. There’s a whole load of pieces to have a gander at, with five entry levels on display: junior, young, beginner, amateur and professional.

Amber Run

When: Monday 18 October, 7.30pm

Where: Rescue Rooms

How Much? £15

If you’re feeling like some indie music this week, then look no further. Amber Run are playing at Rescue Rooms this Monday evening as part of their UK tour. The band, who originate from Nottingham, will be bringing along upcoming indie-rock band Luna Bay, promising an evening of good music, electric guitars, and at least one long haired boy from each band.

A Girl Walks Alone At Night

When: Thursday 21 October, 6pm

Where: Nonsuch Studios

How Much? £5 for film only, £20 including food

If you’re already in the spooky mood, then head over to Nonsuch Studios this Thursday for a screening of the Iranian vampire film A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night. This evening is part of an ongoing Film & Food series, and the film will be accompanied by a three course meal, including Iranian frittata, Persian stew, and pomegranate passion cake. Described as a cinema and restaurant all in one, this has you set for an entire evening.

A Comedy of Errors

When: From Friday 22 October

Where: Theatre Royal

How Much? From £12.50

Streaming from the Royal Shakespeare Company, A Comedy of Errors is headed to Nottingham, starting this Friday at the Theatre Royal. This slapstick Shakespearean story of mistaken identity is sure to provide a light evening of entertainment. The showing will have reduced prices for royal members, but the play is available for all to see.

Caribou

When: Sunday October 24, 7pm 

Where: Rock City

How Much? £22

After spending the summer performing at festivals like Green Man, Dreamland, and Lost Village, Caribou is heading to Rock City this upcoming Sunday. The Canadian DJ, who also performs under the stage names Daphni and Manitoba, will be playing one of his dreamy electronica sets for the audience. Especially exciting in light of his new single You Can Do It, this one is perfect for anyone missing the festival feel.
