With a new album out this year titled Migration, Bossk kicked off their December UK Tour by playing at The Bodega on Sunday 12 December and a packed venue enjoyed every second of it...

Double jabbed and a booster in my arm, I eagerly waited for a festive serving of post metal/post rock sounds at my Christmas outing. Starters came from the Edinburgh 4-piece band DVNE, a post prog/metal wall of sound that left the room hungry for more, a mix of clean/brutal vocals, great guitaring and a hint of psychedelia to get the crowd moving, oh and killer drumming from Dudley Tait throughout. If the support band were this good, how would Bossk go down?
Heads all around the room were bobbing as one for the 60 minutes of heavy sounds
The Main Course was presented to us and Bossk appeared on stage amidst drones and layers of guitar sounds whirling around the room, and a 1-hour set of sludge metal/post metal music began. The most brutal of brutal vocals was thrown out to the crowd by singer/frontman Sam Marsh, whilst the band kept things tight, really tight. Heads all around the room were bobbing as one for the 60 minutes of heavy sounds, Tom Begley on bass and Nick Corney on drums made certain that the rhythms were always moving us along, even when time signatures started to shift all over the place. Layer after layer, after layer of guitar sounds swirled around The Bodega from Alex Hamilton and Rob Vaughan. I last saw these guys at the ArcTanGent festival a couple of years ago, they were good back then but this was a step up in musicianship and performance. Have I said I really like these guys yet?

With an average track over 6 minutes long, an hour goes by so quickly and it all ended by 10 pm, folks left as quickly as they had arrived, The Bodega went quiet once more and the Christmas Party was over. Bossk move onto their next venues in Bristol, London, Leeds and Manchester, but Nottingham saw them first!
