February might be a short month, but it's packed with some cracking releases...

Moonfall

The succinct IMDb synopsis for Moonfall reads as follows: “A mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurdling on a collision course with life as we know it.” And if that doesn’t make you excited to see this film, I don’t know what will. From legendary director of the ludicrous Roland Emmerich, this promises to be a chaotic, eventful and outright insane bit of blockbuster filmmaking. Make sure you experience it on the biggest screen possible.

Moonfall is showing at Arc Beeston, Showcase, Cineworld and Savoy from Thursday 3 February.

The Souvenir: Part II

2019’s The Souvenir certainly split opinion, with critics giving it a remarkable 89% score on Rotten Tomatoes… but audiences giving it just 36%. Yet, while the original may not have been everyone’s cup of matcha, Part II seems to have proven more popular with the masses - bumping up that audience score to a much more impressive 86%. If you’re wanting to keep an eye on awards-worthy releases ahead of Oscar season, this is definitely one to watch.

The Souvenir: Part II is showing at Broadway from Friday 4 February.

Uncharted

Okay, Uncharted seems to have everything going against it. Firstly, it’s a video game adaptation, which rarely ends well. Secondly, it’s been through production hell - when this was first meant to have been released, Barack Obama was still US President and the UK had yet to Vote Leave. But, despite all this, it does have Tom Holland, and it could well be a bit of mindless fun. Is this outlook a little too optimistic? There’s only one way to find out…

Uncharted is showing at Arc Beeston, Cineworld and Savoy from Friday 11 February.

Death on the Nile

If you can look past the controversy surrounding Armie Hammer (just Google it), this promises to be another witty, tense and spectacular take on one of Agatha Christie’s most popular creations. Kenneth Branagh’s ridiculous moustache aside, Murder on the Orient Express proved a pretty entertaining couple of hours, and with another star-studded line-up joining eccentric genius Monsieur Poirot this time out, expect more shocks, speeches and snark - and a whole lot of deception.

Death on the Nile is showing at Arc Beeston, Showcase, Cineworld and Savoy from Friday 11 February, and at Bonington from Monday 21 March.

Cyrano

Finish off this cold, dark February month with a bit of a song and dance. The Peter Dinklage-led Cyrano has been described as “a well-acted musical spin on the oft-adapted classic tale”, with the Game of Thrones star joined by a hugely talented cast including the likes of Ben Mendelsohn and Haley Bennett. Dinklage ultimately steals the show, though, and has already picked up plaudits for his charming display. Cyrano? More like Cyrayes, right guys?

Cyrano is showing at Broadway from Friday 25 February.
