After a two year absence, Light Night will take over Sneinton Market this weekend, with Notts artists and independent businesses joining in with the event’s ‘Rebel City’ theme.

A busy couple of days will kick off on Friday 4 February with a colourful Brazilian Carnival Parade, followed by live music and UV Graffiti on Saturday 5 - promising two packed evenings of exciting entertainment.

Throughout the weekend, unique exhibitions will be projected onto the buildings of the Avenues, showcasing the talent of local artists including Graham Elstone and Jonathan Neilsen, and a spectacular burning sculpture will take centre stage in the Square.

A number of Sneinton favourites will be taking part in what is very much a collaborative event, with Butter + Sugar hosting a ‘Hygge Happenings’ celebration across both nights - highlighting the work of local craft businesses and launching a new textile exhibition from Rebekah Johnston - and Minor Oak serving up an enticing range of cocktails and mocktails in their Midnight Forest Bar.

And just in case you needed any more convincing, the glorious Blend Coffee House will also be opening late on both days, offering their delightful hot drinks and popular grilled cheese sandwiches.

This forms part of Nottingham's wider Light Night festivities which will spread across the city, from the Rebel Heart exhibition in Old Market Square, bringing a wall of sound, light and projection to the Council House, to a modern ‘son et lumiere’ display filling St Mary's Church

More information on Sneinton's Light Night and its wide-ranging activities, from DJ sets to mural making sessions, can be found on the Sneinton Marketplace Facebook page.
