Aspiring DJs in Nottingham can soon take part in an exciting beginners course that aims to increase diversity in the music industry.

Saffron, a not-for-profit organisation that offers training in music production, are bringing their Mix Nights sessions to the city for women, non binary and trans people aged eighteen and over.

Across eight weeks, participants will get the chance to gain hands-on experience with mixing equipment and DJing with digital music, and will even get to showcase their new skills with a thirty minute set at a public showcase event in Notts.

Aimed at both newcomers and those who already have basic skills but are looking to build confidence, this course is led by different esteemed guests each week, with everyone from Peach to Lady Shaka having offered their personal insight into the world of DJing in recent years.

Mix Nights has a successful track record with helping underrepresented talent to break into the industry, with several former graduates moving on to gain regular slots on the likes of BBC Radio 1Xtra and Noods.

Free places and payment plans are available to those interested, with Friday 11 February the deadline for applications.
