From The Batman to Edge of Tomorrow, graduates from our city have worked on some pretty amazing projects...
Luke Gentry
Sound Designer Luke Gentry has done a bit of everything since his time at Confetti, working with Tom Cruise on Edge of Tomorrow and helping to bring one of the most popular book series, The Wheel of Time, to the small screen. Speaking of his time at the Creative Institute, he says, “I owe them my career for the start they gave me. I've got a lot of love for Confetti and everybody that works there.” You can check out a full interview with Luke on our website.
Max Brown
What’s even cooler than working on the latest Tom Hardy film? Doing so for a company committed to reducing its carbon footprint, of course. Max Brown has joined the environmentally friendly Dupe VFX as a Virtual Production and 3D Generalist, meaning he can show off his talents and support Hollywood’s push to become more sustainable at the same time. With Dupe already helping to bring the likes of Stranger Things and Sex Education to life, Brown and co are now getting to work on Hardy’s ucpoming Netflix crime drama, Havoc - expected to be released later this year.
Emre Papilla
From Mansfield to Gotham - Visual Effects graduate Emre Papilla has landed a job working on The Batman, which is coming to cinemas on Thursday 3 March. After becoming a Production Assistant for Scanline VFX, a prolific visual effects studio whose credits include Game of Thrones and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, he was recently called up to work on Matt Reeves’ latest blockbuster - one of the biggest films of the past year. “I’m really loving my time at Scanline. The job itself is very coordination based, with lots of scheduling and writing,” he says. “I get to work on some really exciting projects, many of which are top secret.” Every Batman needs an Arthur, and every Batman movie needs an Emre.
Joe Draghi
We all love Wallace and Gromit, right? Well, Confetti's Joe Draghi got the chance to join the Oscar-winning studio behind the series, Aardman Animations, when he undertook a prestigious aid bursary recently. Aardman are close friends of Confetti, regularly sending speakers to their Industry Week. The studio’s director, Will Becher, says: “I think it’s an amazing place to be inspired and work around creatives.”
Chloe Tanner
Okay, so Chloe Tanner might not be working in film or TV, but the VFX graduate is doing incredible work in the gaming sphere - and we play games on a screen, right? Recently hired as a 3D Artist for the anime-inspired strategy game ChainGuardians, Chloe’s work will help to launch an exciting new avenue in the world of esports - with team competitions set to take place with the game soon. “I find a lot of techniques taught in VFX can now be transferred over to video games considering games in general are getting closer to VFX quality,” Chloe says. See? They’re not so different, games and films…
