With only three weeks left until deadline, now is the time to enter the Young Creative Awards
Founded in 2009, the Young Creative Awards are pivotal to Nottingham’s creative scene, helping young people access industry connections through their yearly competition. And there’s now only three weeks left to enter, as we amp up towards the deadline on April 25 2022.
Open to anyone aged 11-24 who lives, works, or studies in Nottingham, there are 11 different categories to enter including Design and Architecture, Animation and Digital Media, Creative Writing, Dance, Fashion and Textiles, Film, Graphic Design, Music, Photography, Theatre, and Visual Arts.
With previous winners going on to thrive in the creative field, the YCA boasts an impressive line of alumni, including bruk up dancer Jamal Sterrett, published author Rebecca Constable, and fashion designer Liss Cooke, who worked on Beyoncé's dress for the Global Citizen Festival.
Young Creative Awards winners receive cash prizes, plus industry experience, mentoring and training opportunities. Last year, illustrator Kate Sharp (a winner in the Graphic Design category in 2020) was commissioned by awards sponsors CarShop to design a special Nottingham-inspired car wrap for one of their courtesy cars.
And best of all, it’s completely free to enter! Made possible thanks to sponsorship from a range of local and national companies and organisations. These include: Broadway, CarShop, Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies, Dance4, Maber, Nottingham College, Nottingham Music Hub, Nottingham Trent University, Romo, Skeleton, STENCIL, University of Nottingham and Walkgrove.
Apply here by April 25 for a chance to be a YCA winner this year
We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
