Led by Dr Abraham van Helsing, would you dare to enter the haunted caves?
Adding history to Halloween, Nottingham Castle are offering a week's worth of spooky cave tours this October - allowing visitors to visit the famous caves which are usually strictly out of access to visitors at night.
Running from Saturday 22 October until Monday 31 October, the experience injects the usual cave tour with a twist of the paranormal by transporting guests back to October 1877. Here, the audience will learn about the mysterious disappearance of several Ducal palace workers, and then be asked to join the famous paranormal investigator Dr Abraham van Helsing, on a mission to uncover the truth.
Lasting approximately 45 minutes, the experience is made real thanks to a bevy of talented actors, and is accessible to anyone over the age of 15. With the exception of Halloween night being reserved for over 18’s.
And if this sounds too frightening, there’s also a selection of other activities happening in the daytime including spellbinding sessions for young wizards and witches from Abramelin's Academy of Arcana. Lessons that will be demonstrating many real arcane skills from history, including divination, astrology, alchemy, Egyptology, dragon lore, distillation, astronomy, grimoires and herbalism.
Commenting on the week of events David Johns, interim CEO at Nottingham Castle Trust, said “Halloween at Nottingham Castle is set to be a fantastic week of activities and experiences for all ages. Those wishing to explore the grounds during the day will be able to take part in some magical family fun, while braver souls can wait until after dark for a Victorian gothic adventure.”
