A big win for Nottingham Panthers at the Motorpoint Arena...

Well, that was fun. In a season of misfires, mixed performances and not-quite-good-enoughs, watching the Nottingham Panthers at their free-flowing, largely dominant best was a cracking post-deadline treat. Going all-out from minute one, and maintaining control for all bar a few minutes either side of the opening twenty, this felt like a key moment in what has been a challenging few months for the Panthers, and it was a joy to behold.

Jordan Kelsall continues to prove himself as one of the highlights of this newly-assembled side, and it was his close range effort that put the Panthers ahead just before the eight-minute mark. While only young, Kelsall has shown a real knack for being in the right place at the right time, and this once again proved to be the case as he poached the opener.

The stand-out from the night was undoubtedly Sorenson, though, who took home the player-of-the-match award - and rightly so. Smashing in the Panthers’ second and final goals of the night, the headline-stealer was an impressive force all game, proving a constant threat around the Glasgow Clan’s net.

Among the other three goals were some well-worked possession-based plays and straight-up screamers from long range, as Nottingham flexed their offensive muscles more confidently than they have for most of the season.

There have been reasons to complain about the Nottingham Panthers this season - and heaven knows fans on Facebook have done exactly that - but this was definitely a performance to remember

A brief spell of poor defensive work will be a cause for concern, as the Panthers blew a two-goal lead within five minutes, dropping from 2-0 to 2-2 in what felt like the blink of an eye - the tension within the crowd was apparent, as fans grew anxious over the potential of another disappointing night. Yet rather than crumbling under the pressure, Nottingham regained their confidence and wrestled back control of the game, putting the game to bed before the final period.

There have been plenty of reasons to complain about the Nottingham Panthers this season - and heaven knows fans on Facebook have done exactly that - but this was definitely a performance to remember.
