The Bodega provides all of the festive spirit at the Christmas Covers Party, which was celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year...

What can I say about the Christmas Covers Party? It’s the office party for part of the Nottingham music scene.

Anticipated and revered in equal parts, and usually lots of alcohol spilt. What a great night.

It’s all brilliant fun, and it raised loads of money for local charities. This year, people donated £2,088 in all.

Highlights were covers of Shocking Blue Send me a postcard, Yeah Yeah Yeahs MAPS, Half Man Half Biscuit Vatican Broadside, a load of PIL. There were plenty of others I can’t remember.

Strike-supporting Santa jumpers, top hats... you name it, it was there – well, maybe some of it.

The night gave you a warm christmas pud’ feeling of satisfaction, richness and overdoing it, because you love everyone.

So many friends were there, it was hard to move through the crowd without taking a few minutes to stop and catch up.

Yes, it really is the season to excel in love, friendship, and goodwill to all.

Merry Christmas, or whatever mid-winter celebration you wish to have to light up your nights.
