Years after they last stepped foot in Nottingham on a tour, Black Veil Brides returned to the stage at Rock City in an explosion of music and emotion. The Californian band sold out tickets to the concert, which took place on Saturday 18th February, weeks in advance.
With a brilliant support set by Lilith Czar and Cemetery Sun, the crowd was electric, waiting for the main act to start and give them what they’ve been waiting for. This had the potential to be the concert of the year for many people who were stood in the room.
Not long after 8:30pm, the stage started flashing and the theme tune to Phantom of the Opera started playing all around the venue. Let me tell you, that was the moment that the crowd lost their minds. They were screaming and cheering; the vibe was immaculate.
When they entered the stage and the lead singer Andy Biersack, together with the whole band, started performing, I must admit that my 16-year-old self was very happy, expressed with both inner and outer screams of happiness, but my 21-year-old self wasn’t even one tiny bit far removed from all of those emotions.
The punk rock band performed their new EP The Mourning, breaking all the rules and traditions, delivering epic tracks including Saviour II, The Revival, Better Angels and Devil. If I had to describe the evening in a few words, it would definitely be a throwback in genuineness and talent.
All that is left now is to see them in a few years and say the exact same words again: A night to remember.
