Ahead of the Future Sound of Nottingham showcase on 2 July, we're going to be catching up with each finalist to find out more about them. Here’s Penny Moon...
How would you describe your music?
We would describe our music as a mix of sweet melodies and grungy guitar riffs, heavy drums and punchy bass lines.
What was your reaction to the news you’d be playing the FSN final?
We were so excited to know we could play on the main stage! It's the place to be when you play music in Nottingham, a few nerves of course too as it's a first for all of us.
What can the Rock City crowd expect from your performance?
Rock City can expect high energy! Plenty of heavy riffs, and hopefully something worthy of a slot at Splendour this year.
Why did you enter FSN?
We entered FSN as we've all been around in the Nottingham music scene for a while, we know it through and through! We thought we would shoot our shot at playing the biggest festival Notts has to offer and what a great way to try and get there with people behind you.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
Our biggest influences are Wolf Alice, Mitski, and Radiohead.
What Nottingham artists are you loving at the minute?
Our Notts shout-outs go to Sobscene, Marvin's Revenge, and Sex Toy Vending Machine.
What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
Our biggest career highlight so far has to be being asked to play Rock City main stage – we are so excited.
Any last words for LeftLion?
Our new single slow down is out everywhere now! Go give it a listen for a sneak peak of our set.
The Future Sound of Nottingham final will take place on 2 July. No tickets or booking required. Crowd participation is part of the final vote.
We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
