Nottingham DJ/Turntablist, Lee White, has just booked himself a place in the IDA World Party Rocking DJ Finals after a very tough elimination round, where he faced the very best DJs from all over the globe. He joins nine other DJs from Mexico, USA, Spain, India, Poland, Indonesia, China, Portugal and Brazil in the first ever Party Rocking World DJ final which will be held online during October...

Lee White, better known as Loop Skywalker in the world of scratch DJing, has been under the radar in his home city of Nottingham, but is known worldwide within the circles of battle DJing. He has spent his life chasing DJ battle titles in prestige turntablist competitions such as the IDA and DMC DJ organisations, and as a result has represented the UK in no less than ten world finals.

Lee first started DJ battling in 1989 and has five UK titles to his name, his last victory was in 2021 when he became the IDA UK DJ Champion. “I thought that would be my last ever go at a world title, and then I saw this new category and it just sounded like it was made for me, combining my turntablist skills and ability to DJ at parties. So to get another shot at a world title this late in my life makes it a bit special this time.

“When I won my UK title in 2021 I decided I would draw a line under competing and wrote a book about my journey through the ages of Hip Hop and DJing, I never in a million years thought that I would be in this situation again, its given me a new lease of life in the hobby that I love."

It's a bit special this time

What makes this so impressive is that Lee turns 55 years old just as the competition comes to a close. This is a remarkable feat as most DJs in the new category are in their twenties, Lee really has proved his longevity in this style of DJing where he has consistently kept up with all the techniques and skills required to compete and perform at a world level for five decades.

Lee doesn't play out very often but there's no doubt that reaching this new Party Rocking World final will possibly see Loop Skywalker want to play more of his speciality DnB Discotheque sets at parties and events around his hometown of Nottingham.

We wish Lee the very best of luck in the World Finals. You can follow them here.
