The recent 29-year reunion of the iconic crew Bush Doctor Sound System brought together fans of the jungle fraternity from across the UK. The bass in the place was described by one party goer as ‘out of this world’, while others spoke of the atmosphere resembling a nineties jungle rave, with vibes and ambience transporting revellers back in time. The event was a resounding success, helping to spark interest in jungle music among a younger audience, as well as long-time ravers. Jungle is among the earliest and most popular forms of electronic dance music to emerge from the UK in the early 1990s. With an intoxicating mix of heavy, rolling basslines, reggae and rare groove samples, combined with energetic MCs hyping up the crowd, a jungle rave is undoubtedly one of the most electrifying experiences you can imagine.

The Bush Doctor dancefloor was packed from the moment the doors opened until closing time, with people in attendance from all walks of life, united by their love of the music and the culture it represents. As the night progressed, the energy and excitement intensified, with each DJ and MC bringing their own unique style and flavour to the mix. From tunes like Origin Unknown’s classic Long Dark Tunnel and legendary DJ Zinc’s Super Sharp Shooter to more modern bangers from the likes of Serum and Benny L, the music never stopped and the bass eventually started to bring the ceiling down (literally).

Perhaps the most memorable moment of the night came when legendary MC Navigator took to the mic with his trademark deep voice and lightning-fast flow, with a message that not only commanded the crowd's attention but had them hanging on his every word. Navi, as he’s more affectionately known, reminded the crowd – by now in an almost hypnotic daze – that this moment was to be a powerful reminder of the impact that jungle music has had on UK dance music culture. Furthermore, he spoke of his love of the music and gave testament to the enduring influence of Bush Doctor and the crew’s epic sound system.

All in all, Bush Doctor The Reunion was a true celebration of jungle music and the community that surrounds it. Whether you’re a die-hard fan from the early days or a newcomer to the scene, it was impossible not to get swept up in the energy and excitement of the night. Here's to another 29 years plus of Bush Doctor, jungle music and the positive and pure vibes it brings. Here’s to more heavyweight dubplates and classic jungle anthems that have everyone skanking and raving all night long. Here’s to the next Bush Doctor event. Respect!

The next Bush Doctor event takes place on 27 December 2023, with tickets on sale now.
