In 2023 their first headline show in Nottingham sold out and in 2024 they will take to the Beat The Streets stage. We catch up with Bloodworm to find out what to expect from their set, what else they've got planned for the year, and when we can expect to hear some new tunes from them...
Reflecting on 2023, how was the year for you guys? What were the highlights?
2023 was huge. There was a lot of firsts including our first Notts headline selling out, but we also had sold out headline gigs in Sheffield and Manchester too which was special. The highlight would probably have to be opening up Dot To Dot festival on Rescue Rooms main stage though.
The first major event on the Nottingham calendar is Beat The Streets which you are performing at. What have you got planned for your set there?
It’s going to be hard hitting, you’ll get slapped round the chops with the singles and then the live favourites. The beauty behind not releasing has been to see how these songs grow with audiences that can only hear the songs when they come to see us. There are some new ones in there too which will be a debut for them in Nottingham.
You haven’t put any music out on streaming services since 2022. Do you have plans to release new music this year? And will you be performing any new or unreleased songs at Beat The Streets?
We are constantly writing and recording demos, collecting them for when we want to release them. There will be new music in 2024 but we’re not going to release it in a conventional way. Then as mentioned above there will be some new songs getting a run out which is exciting as we have no idea how they will go down with fans.

You’ve played Beat The Streets before, so what memories do you have of previous years, either as a performer or as an attendee?
We got to play Rock City beta last year and it was pretty much at capacity which was just insane. We didn’t expect anyone to turn up so to have it full was surreal.
Which other artists are you excited to see perform on the day?
Girlband will be great. We’ve done some work with Davoli and it’s one of his first gigs so that’ll be cool. Otala and The Rain Age are not to be missed, they always put on a mega show.
You’re performing at Jam Café a few days later on 31 January. What made you choose that as the venue and how does it feel to know that show is sold out? I know you played their when you did Hockley Hustle last year too, is it a special venue for you guys?
We haven’t seen many Nottingham bands play there for a while and we think it’s so cool in there. It has no stage now either so it’ll be so up close and absolutely the vibe we want. We are absolutely buzzing for that.
You said there will be special guests at the show, have you announced who they will be yet? If not, could you give us some hints if you’re allowed to do so?
Yes! We’ve got our Nottingham mates The Rain Age on the bill and we always like to drag along bands from out of town so we’ve got The Solution from Manchester.
You’ve also been touring outside of Nottingham recently, including shows in Brighton, London and Manchester. What is it like playing outside of your hometown?
We love it. The feeling of being completely unknown and out of the comfort of Nottingham, we love the pressure. You have new people who have never heard you before and you have to convince them to become a fan, they want to be impressed. Luckily, we did that pretty successfully in 2023.
Do you have anything else coming up in 2024 that you want to shout about?
There WILL be new music at some stage… oh and a couple of tours, festivals and plenty more hometown gig madness. See you there?
