Upstairs at Rough Trade was packed out to see the Snuts and get to hear the new material from Millennials, which is out on 23 February, live for the first time...

The intimate acoustic nature of the venue meant there were conversations between the band and the crowd, which everyone enjoyed. We even got to hear the conversations between the band members, which Jack joked he had forgotten we could hear them. They started off with Gloria, which had everyone singing along.

Jack spoke between each song giving an insight into each new song and also mixing in an old favourite, likening it to picking a vowel and a consonant on countdown.

‘This song is about having quite a sh*t morning and waking up and dropping your phone on your face, you know we all do that and burning your coffee beans and dropping your toast and realising that when you drop your toast it always lands butterside down. So thats what this songs about, its really deep,’ Jack told us before playing Butterside Down.

‘It’s a good song that one init, it’s alright. It’s a good one tonight, it’s Friday night. We’ll play a couple more off the record, 'cos obviously we’ve played those other ones for quite some time. Then we’ve got signing bits of paper coming up next and it does take quite a while by the way. But like I say, thanks for coming down. It’s nice to be able to do it in this environment in this type of venue. It’s fairly enjoyable actually. I’m having a great time, thanks for coming.’

It was a short set, but very well received and the band took their time with everyone, having a chat, signing stuff and posing for photos. The band are back in Nottingham at the end of the year for a show at Rock City.
