Where did the name Goat Girl come from?
We’re all Capricorns.
Was there anything different about recording and creating the new album compared to the previous two?
Yes, lots! We co-produced this album with John ‘Spud’ Murphy so we were really hands on. It took a long time with lots of back and forth as spud is based in Dublin and we’re in London. We used all this extra time to really lean into the extremes of our sound and to explore the songs to their full potential by adding and taking away lots of different elements until we were happy. We really went there!
Where did the art for the album cover come from?
We always knew that we wanted our trusty art boys Toby and Aidan Evans-Jesra (who did the artwork for On All Fours) on the case. We made a Pinterest of ideas and a motif of a car sinking seemed to keep cropping up. The brothers listened to the album on repeat whilst painting the cover and brought out all the darkness and light in the music, playing with shadows and the lights from the car.

We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
