Author and playwright Steve Orme’s hoop-shooting detective Miles Davies returns…
At the LeftLion Lit desk we spend a lot of time on the edge of our seat, so endowed is the city with great crime writers, and our anxious reading habits look unlikely to change this summer. Local moustachioed author Steve Orme, building on a career of four decades of writing for newspapers and the theatre, is releasing his second novel ‘Storm Bodies’ on Friday the 12th of July.
The story follows crack detective Miles Davies (no relation) on his second white-knuckle adventure as he contends with the exploits of the resurrected Derby Storm basketball team. In researching the book, Steve grilled Nottinghamshire Police officers and legal gurus and, given that he once wrote a book about the history of basketball, we can be assured that these passages have a realistic bounce to them, too.
Steve’s career is having a flourishing moment - his first play What’s Your Poison? went on a national tour last year, and he’s working on the follow-up now. So, all signs point to Storm Bodies being a top class page-turner, the literary equivalent of a three point field goal.

We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
