Leftlion Live Emily

On Friday 2 August we are inviting the public to join us in a conversation about creativity. LeftLion Interviews at The Library is a new free monthly event at Nottingham Central Library. Our next guest is Emily Catherine, a Nottingham based visual artist and illustrator whose work draws influence from hip-hop culture and its neighbouring genres.

TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT ARE FREE. CLICK HERE TO BOOK.

Since launching her career in 2015, Emily has gained recognition for her artistic collaborations with acclaimed hip-hop artists, including Tha God Fahim, Juga-Naut, and Micall Parknsun. As a long-time artistic collaborator of the New York based rapper and producer, Your Old Droog, she was commissioned to design several of his album covers, notably his 2019 It Wasn’t Even Close and Space Bar in 2021.

From 25-31 August she launches her debut solo exhibition I Can Heal and Give You Art at Richmond House. The exhibition includes: The Art of Album Covers, a retrospective of Emily’s album covers, and commissions born out of her long-standing collaborations with music artists including Tha God Fahim, Micall Parknsun, Juga-Naut and Your Old Droog; and her more introspective and personal charcoal portrait series, on show for the first time, Here with You.

The conversation will be led by interviewees from our core team, but there will be a chance at the end for you to ask your own questions. Our event will start at 7pm (doors open at 6pm) and we expect the event to end around 8.30pm.

We’ll be doing these events at Nottingham Central Library once a month for the rest of 2024 thanks to funding from Arts Council England. All interviews will be recorded and we will publish them as podcasts across our networks soon afterwards. We have some very interesting and amazing guests lined-up. Tickets are free, but booking in advance is advised.

We have a favour to ask

LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
