We’re starting something new. It’s a series of live interviews at Nottingham Central Library with some of our favourite artists from or connected to Notts. We’re inviting you to join us for an early-evening of conversation about creativity.

Our first event is on Friday 12 July and our guest will be The PETEBOX. For those of you that are not familiar with his work, here’s a little piece he did a while back that now has over 6million views on YouTube.
THe PETEBOX is a solo performer, musician, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose pioneering live show has ignited audiences across the world. Breaking out as an award-winning beatboxer he soon redefined the genre through the use of his loop pedal, guitar and an otherworldly, multi-phonic voicebox.
He is a singular artist untouched by trends or fads, someone who is genuinely and fiercely independent and has tapped into an art form of true expression that connects directly with the hearts of a rapidly growing fan base.
In late 2023 THe PETEBOX was in the national spotlight again as a Semi-Finalist on ITV’s talent show The Voice. Here’s a clip of his appearance where he got will.i.am, Anne-Marie, Olly Murs and even Sir Tom Jones out of their seats, all vying to get him on their team.
THe PETEBOX will be with us to discuss his career, influences and those formative years in Notts. We’re hopeful he might even his loop pedals for a short performance too.
The conversation will be led by interviewees from our core team, but there will be a chance at the end for you to ask your own questions. Our event will start at 7pm (doors open at 6pm) and we expect the event to end around 8-8.30pm.

We’ll be doing these events at Nottingham Central Library once a month for the rest of 2024 thanks to funding from Arts Council England. All interviews will be recorded and we will publish them as podcasts across our networks soon afterwards. We have some very interesting and amazing guests lined-up. Tickets are free, but booking in advance is essential.

We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
