ABBA, cactuses and iconic Glastonbury headliner Duo Lingo feature in this month's Overheard in Notts...

TITLE

Teenage boy on bike in Lady Bay when it was the Open Gardens weekend, talking to friend on phone: "there's loads of people just aimlessly walking around down here."

Kid 1: "It happened many moons ago"

Kid 2: "what does that mean?"

1: "Well, eventually, after hundreds of years, the moon dies and we get a new one, so it means a long time ago"

2: "Have you ever seen two moons?"

1: "Yes, but I don't remember it very well"

At Trent Bridge Inn, Wetherspoons: "I don't like Abba. We've had this argument before."

"I thought the ones in your legs were called legaments."

"I've killed a cactus. They can survive the desert but they can't survive me."

"In an apocalyptic situation, you ain’t gunna survive on Quinoa."

"Your dad got furloughed by Avon."

"You can speak without speaking you know."

Two people outside McDonalds

Boy: "Has anyone got any cough medicine?"

Girl: "It hurts when I swallow. It's gone down my jugular."

Boy: "That's a big word for you."

Me: (Out of earshot) "It's only seven letters. That's not a big word. And it's the wrong word. You mean oesophagus. Now that is a big word. But you clearly don't know it."

"My daughter's at Glastonbury, she wants to see Duo Lingo."

Man 1: "My sister's married to a professional stamp collector"

Man 2: "Professional?!"

Man 1: "We always assumed it was a front for drugs"
