A light trail in the snow! Yes please! Here at LeftLion we had the pleasure of being invited to Light Post Farm, the brand new magical after dark trail at White Post Farm…
The team at White Post Farm has truly worked hard on this project this year. Teaming up with the popular children’s festival, Gloworm, they’ve created a spectacular light trail. The snowfall in Nottinghamshire this week added an extra touch of magic, but even without it, the lights were an absolute delight, creating a magical experience for our entire family.
I brought my two-year-old along since the trail is pram-friendly, and while exploring, we met a wonderful couple with their three-week-old baby. It truly is a spectacular experience that people of all ages can enjoy.
You’re guided by a map, with friendly staff available along the way to help you stay on track. There are plenty of spots to stop and capture photos of the vibrant, colourful lights.
My favourite spot along the trail, and one I highly recommend for photos, is the light-up Christmas tree and the dazzling rainbow road lights. These displays truly captured the festive spirit and were perfect for creating cherished Christmas memories with the family.
It was delightful to see the animals along the trail, who seemed eager and happy to greet visitors. It was also fantastic to see the playground incorporated into the trail, giving children a chance to enjoy some playtime along the way. Additionally, there were plenty of beautifully lit-up animal displays to admire. One of the highlights for us was Rainbow Road—a fun twist on the Mario Kart classic. We even spotted some karts parked along the side, adding to the playful atmosphere!
If you’re considering a visit to the lights at White Post Farm, I highly recommend it for families. The illuminated trail is included with admission, and you also get access to a charming mini Christmas market. Here, you can enjoy hot chocolate, roast marshmallows, and indulge in a variety of sweet treats—a perfect way to round up the festive experience!
There are also wonderful opportunities to create magical reindeer dust to take home for Christmas Eve and a cosy room for decorating gingerbread. To top it all off, you can visit the big man himself, Santa, and capture a festive photo with him—just in time for Christmas!
Don’t miss the opportunity to see newborn lambs, expected to arrive in early December! Your visit also includes full access to the farm, featuring the fascinating Reptiles of the World Exhibit and the fun-filled indoor Jungle Barn.
We enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate in the tea room before completing our journey through the lights, which included charming displays like a snowman and fairy cottages. The hot chocolate was absolutely amazing, and on a chilly evening, I’d highly recommend grabbing one to sip as you stroll along the trail—it’s the perfect cosy treat!
If you would like to book, the Light Up Farm at White Post Farm is now open to the public until 22nd December. Enjoy!

LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
