The National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham is the biggest entertainment venue in the East Midlands. It’s celebrating a monumental milestone this year, as it proudly marks its 25th anniversary this April. Since opening its doors in 2000, the venue has been a premier destination for world-class performances, sporting events, concerts, and more, drawing millions of visitors from across the UK and beyond.

Over those years they’ve hosted World-class musical acts including Lady GaGa, Elton John, Beyonce, Kylie, Metallica, Oasis and Justin Bieber. They’ve hosted some of the biggest comedians on the planet like Peter Kay and Ricky Gervais. They’ve also served as a key site for major sporting events including Premier League Darts, World Championship Boxing, UFC, WWE and the annual Elite Ice Hockey League Play-Off Finals.

As part of their 25th Birthday celebrations, they have launched The People’s Picture Project, a stunning photo mosaic which will be created from thousands of fan photos. This one of a kind artwork will feature thousands of images taken at the venue by event goers over the past 25 years, along with the very best event images from the Motorpoint Arena archives.

The final image will be put together by British Artist Helen Marshall, who has previously created high quality photo mosaic art and installations, for clients including Alexandra Palace, the National Memorial Arboretum and the Scottish Football Museum. The image above is her with her mosaic called The People's Monarch which she created in 2012 for BBC South East and depicts the late Queen Elizabeth II at the time of both her coronation and at her Diamond Jubilee.

The Nottingham Arena mosaic will be unveiled and displayed in the foyer of the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham later this year. If you have photos from events you have attended at Nottingham Arena please submit them via the link below to be part of this and become a piece of Nottingham's cultural history.
