Natalie Bellingham delivers a solo performance celebrating the messy business of life...

Knees

Natalie Bellingham’s Look After Your Knees is a sweeping odyssey of joy, comfort, humour, change and pain. From the moment she steps onto the stage, her presence is magnetic, drawing the audience into a space that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant. There’s an intimacy to the production—an unspoken invitation to step closer, to listen, to feel.

Natalie’s warmth and wit draw us in, wrapping us in familiarity before plunging us into moments of raw, visceral emotion. There is something here for everyone: whether you come seeking laughter, reflection or simply an evening of engaging storytelling, Natalie delivers with authenticity.

Like life itself, Look After Your Knees is ever-shifting, never allowing us to settle too comfortably before shifting into something new. Yet, amidst its dynamism, the production also invites stillness. It asks us to pause, to consider the people who have shaped our habits, influenced our ways of being, and offered kindness as we’ve grown. Through humour and sincerity, Natalie reminds us to honour those who lift us and to embrace life’s inevitable changes with courage and grace.

punctuated by moments of dance, spoken word, and unfiltered honesty

For a solo performance, Natalie Bellingham is larger than the stage itself. Her emotional range is extraordinary, spanning from outright silliness to profound grief, punctuated by moments of dance, spoken word, and unfiltered honesty. There is an unfiltered honesty at its core, made all the more poignant through the inclusion of real voice notes saved on her phone and personal letters penned to those who have shaped the woman she has become. It is a striking reminder that the most powerful stories are often the ones we live ourselves.

The show concludes with an inventive adaptation of Baz Luhrmann’s Sunscreen, leaving us with Natalie’s pearls of wisdom that linger long after the final bow. Among them, a particularly resonant piece of advice: wear clothes that you love, as your body will change and fashion will always change. And, of course, the titular reminder: Look after your knees.

Natalie Bellingham has crafted something truly special—an intricate tapestry of personal history and theatrical ingenuity. Bravo, Natalie.

Look After Your Knees played at Lakeside Arts on Thursday 20th of March 2025.
