A bands worth should be rated upon how long it takes your hearing to recover after seeing them live. It took mine two days
The band, from the Walsall/ Sutton area, featuring Ollie Hipkins on bass and lead vocals, David Wright on guitar and Tom Maisey on drums put on an energetic show. Their head banging capabilities are definitely not in doubt.
Also on the bill were fellow Birmingham comrades Jinja. The lead singer really gave it everything he had. At one point, while singing, he went totally hyper and ended up lying face down on one of the tall amps.
Prior to the gig I obtained, from a friend, a copy of Chester Road's EP. My favourite track was Does it Feel Like Home? Being dark in tempo it reminded me of something I would have enjoyed being depressed to in my late teens; for that alone it's worth a listen. The talent of these guys is in no doubt, but the energy I saw in them that night wasn't replicated in this recording. It was just a little too polished.
A bands worth, in my personal opinion, should be rated upon how long it takes your hearing to recover after seeing them live. It took mine two days on this occasion! That's not bad going!
