"I was in a state of shock for a few days. It's really weird to say that I'm playing Rock City"
Josh Wheatley
How would you describe your music?
I'm not entirely sure to be honest. Indie-folk is the first thing I'd really jump to but I really couldn't tell you myself.
What was your reaction to the news that you’d be playing the FSN final?
Excited. I really can't remember what happened. I was in a state of shock for a few days. It's really weird to say that I'm playing Rock City.

What can the Rock City crowd expect from your performance?
Music, if you could call it that... it's going to be my first ever gig with a full band. It's going to be a bigger sound than I could ever replicate on my own, which means people have to come along to see what it's going to sound like *wink wink*.

Why did you enter FSN?
I wanted to showcase my music to bigger audiences. I thought it might help quite a bit.

Who are your biggest musical influences?
Ben Howard. No shadow of doubt. His vocal and guitar style just made me fall in love with music. Like I was already crazy about music, but when I discovered Ben Howard it kind of tipped me over the edge. Also Dry the River. One of my favourite bands of all time. Sweet harmonies and some incredible songs, so for anyone who hasn't checked them out go and do so now. And lots and lots of Radiohead.

What are your biggest non-musical influences?
There's not much, I just go for walks. But more recently I've been reading a little into Greek and Roman mythology. It's very interesting and makes for a couple of nice songs.

What other Nottingham artists do you love at the moment?
Well, where do I start? Field Studies. Need I say anymore? They have the lovely Radiohead thing going on. I played a gig with then in a hall in Long Eaton last year. I distinctly remember Charlie (the bassist) complaining about the set list because he didn't like covering The Wombats. But look at them now. Also huge love to Jamie Moon. His new EP is brilliant. Produced by the amazing Frazer Lowrie. It sounds huge. Also Daudi Matsiko. Really nice guy and a wonderful, smooth musician. There are so many more so it depends how long I have to talk. Always going to love Georgie Rose (for so many obvious reasons), Gallery 47, Frankie Rudolf, Rob Green, Joe Danks, Molly and Jack. I implore people to go out to the Acoustic Rooms on a Monday night, it's perfect for finding something new.

What's been the highlight of your career so far?
That's a difficult one. I felt incredibly honoured to be asked to play Dot to Dot festival. Considering some of my all time favourite artists were playing, I was chuffed so much. My EP launch was very humbling. I got to play for a hour to a quiet room (with people in it). It was so much fun. I was very privileged to support Ryan Keen at the Rescue Room last year. One of my favourite gigs. Everyone was there early and they were even quiet for me.

How can people find out more about you?
Though my Facebook page, searching my name in YouTube or just stalking me, it's probably easier.
