George’s are feeling pretty chipper with themselves – they’ve raised a massive £10,000 for When You Wish Upon a Star - in just three years. When You Wish upon a Star is a local charity that helps support children with serious illnesses, granting their wishes in these very difficult times.
Partnering with a local charity that does such wonderful things is very important to the George’s family and, with the help of George’s customers and staff, they have managed to raise a whopping £10,000.
The main source of donations has been the collection boxes on the counters of all their shops which is a great testament to the generosity of their customers. As well as this they’ve attended various events over the years including the Belper Food & Drink Festival where over two years they have raised nearly £400.
In 2014 they opened George’s Great British Kitchen in Nottingham hosting free taster nights where donations were collected for the charity. The meals were free however guests donated over £2000. All money tipped and donated on the night went straight to the charity. Check out the Noshingham review of George’s Great British Kitchen here.
We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
