The American rockers brought their Full Circle Tour to Rock City
Of Mice & Men

Of Mice & Men

The five-piece Volumes may be far from home, but they certainly seemed perfectly at home on the Rock City stage with their energy transferring over to the crowd. Through all of the madness the tracks sounded even better live than on their album, and with the great reaction the crowd were giving the lads they were made to feel very welcome in Nottingham. Although they started their set late, and had to cut it short in order to finish on time, they still created an incredible buzz that got the whole crowd jumping and shouting. The beer was well and truly flowing and the mosh pits were gaining momentum throughout their whole set.

Gracing the stage next were the boys from Australia, The Amity Affliction, with their energetic metalcore. After the awesome start that Volumes made to the gig, they had a growing crowd and increasingly massive atmosphere to keep up with. Luckily, the band kept this going to the point of people sweating after leaving the circle pits, spurred on by the mad and exciting intensity that exuded from the stage.

With the headliners of the night having already released three successful studio albums, there was a huge sense of anticipation growing as the crowd was left to watch the set-up being changed, grab another beer, and wait for Of Mice & Men to finally step on to the stage. As the lights went down and the band graced the stage the roof lifted with a noise that filled Rock City. During their set the energy levels kept growing and soon enough the mosh pits, circle pits, and crowd surfing was taking over the floor. The roars from the balcony were immense atmosphere. you could not only see the sweat dripping from the band members, but from every person in the crowd.

After the crowd was introduced to each band member and the last song was played the band left the stage. A few crowd members drifted away unaware of what was yet to come as the band returned for an encore. To make sure everyone was still awake, and pushed to the limit, the band insisted on every single person at the gig crouch down. Once every single person was low down on the floor, we got ready for the big jump. As the band and the crowd jumped back up, Of Mice and Men carried on with their encore, finishing with an absolute bang, proving they really do deserve this headline spot.

Of Mice & Men, The Amity Affliction and Volumes played at Rock City on 2 April 2015.
