The first annual Nottingham Independents Festival day, starts once again on Saturday 1 October. Skip past the boring, chain coffee shops, restaurants and bars. Take a break from it all, and go on an adventure to explore a day full of events, entertainment, and most importantly – free stuff.

Throughout the day, there'll be many activities and events to join in on, like a free fudge-eating session, an outdoor golf course, a Bare Minerals mini makeup session, and loads more.

Sound good? You can read up more about it in the Nottingham Independent Magazine, which highlights all of the independent businesses around. Make sure you also look out for that huge purple sofa making its way around the city. It's well comfy.

If you come across it, take a seat and put your picture on social media using the hashtag #SummerSofa for your chance to win a £50 high street voucher. Follow @itsinnottingham on Twitter, and you’ll be able to find out where you can get discounts on loads of stuff.

If live music is your thing, there'll be Nottingham acoustic artists playing all around the town on stage, so make sure you’re out and about for the day. There’s still a while till the day kicks off, and with so much more to be announced, make sure you get yourself in the loop and get notified of all the new stuff happening on the day.

We have a favour to ask

LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
