The collaborators for the new Gorillaz album have been confirmed and among the likes of Snoop Dogg, De La Soul and Jean Michel-Jarre, a Notts singer songwriter is also joining the cartoon troupe.

Liam Bailey, previously a collaborator with Chase and Status and Shy FX, has been in the studio with Blur frontman Damon Albarn and illustrator Jamie Hewlett. This follows the release of his long-awaited 2014 album Definitely Now.

Rumours of this collaboration first surfaced earlier in the year on social media. Track details are unknown, but Gorillaz are putting the finishing touches to their fifth studio album following Gorillaz (2001), Demon Days (2005), Plastic Beach (2010) and The Fall (2011).

Liam is joining a prestigious lineup of guest vocalists. Previously Gorillaz  have worked with Neneh Cherry, Shaun Ryder, Mos Def, Andre 3000, Bobby Womack, D12 and Terry Hall.

However Liam has his own prowess as a contributor having got to number five in the UK singles chart singing with Chase and Status on Blind Faith in 2011. He's also featured on tracks with Shy FX, A$AP Ferg and has appeared on stage with the likes of Paloma Faith and Amy Winehouse.

"It's been an amazing few sessions," Liam told LeftLion. "It's an honour to be in the studio with someone who's music I loved when I was younger. I find Damon is very inspiring to be around. Let's see what makes the final cut."

The new, and as yet untitled, Gorillaz album is set to be released sometime in 2017.
